NTA to Conduct NEET Re-Exam of 1563 candidates on June 23, Result by June 30

Hearing on to the issue of grace marks awarded to 1563 candidates in the NEET Result 2024, Hon Supreme Court today announced that the results of all 1563 candidates to stand canceled and they will have to re-appear in the re-exam to be conducted by the NTA on June 23, 2024. The Supreme Court also said that if any candidate refuses to appear in the re-examination then their actual marks without grace marks will be used as the final marks.

The Apex Court was hearing one of the PILs filed by candidates and their teachers highlighting the issue of the unfair grace marks awarded by the NTA, paper leak, and other allegations.

Meetings were held on June 10, 11, and 12 regarding the various allegations and their possible remeditions. The committee recommended cancelling the results of 1,563 candidates and asked to re-conduct the NEET Exam 2024 for all those affected candidates, said Advocate Kanu Agarwal.

Speaking on this, Justice Sandeep Mehta said there are two options for the candidates to either appear in the re-exam or consider the non-normalized marks. He mentioned, “aspect of the result on the basis of compensation marks needs to be cancelled as a whole.”

After this Advocate Kanu Agarwal said that the NTA can conduct the NEET Re-Exam 2024 on June 23 and will release the results by June 30, 2024. Thus the counseling process might be started smoothly by June 06, 2024. He further requested the court to re-open the registration panel for the candidates of all 6 exam centers who didn’t approach the court to apply for the re-exam.

In a previous hearing on June 11, the apex court refused to stay the NEET Counselling 2024 but accepted that the sanctity of the exam has been compromised and asked for a response from NTA. Reverting to this NTA urged that the sanctity of the exam hasn’t been compromised as there were 63 cases of unfair attempts of which 23 students have been barred by the authority.
