Meghalaya Board will now conduct Dual Class 10th SSLC Exams from 2025

The Meghalaya Board of School Education is all set to conduct the SSLC Exam twice a year. Talking to the media, the State Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma announced that the State School Education Board (SSLC) will conduct the class 10th board examinations twice a year from the academic year 2025-26.

He further shared that the decision to conduct the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Exam twice a year was taken following the approval of the state cabinet to amend the 2011 SSLC examination regulations. The objective behind conducting the SSLC exams twice a year is to provide a secondary chance for the students to pass their boards.

From the beginning of 2025, MBOSE will hold two SSLC board exams each year. The first exam will take place in February or early March, and the second will allow students who fail in all or a few subjects to retake the exam within one to two months which will be in May,” said Sangma.

The State Education Minister also informed that the state is also going away with the decision of having an optional paper “best of five papers” from the academic year 2026-27 which means that the students going to appear for the board exams from the academic year 2026-27 will have to pass all the 6 subjects.
