CBSE revised guidelines to mandates NCERT Textbooks for Class IX to XII

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made changes in the amended rule for the use of textbooks by schools and students. As per the latest notice by CBSE for the proposed amended rule, that strongly mandates the use of NCERT/SCERT Textbooks for Class I to VIII and Class IX to XII.

The Board revised the affiliated Bye-Laws 2018 Chapter 2, clause 2.4.7, aim of ensuring the use of prescribed textbooks of NCERT/SCERT. The use of National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) books for Class I to XII is now been mandatory by the CBSE Board and limited the use of books by private publishers. Although the Board prescribes the Schools of Classes 1st to 8th and 9th to 12th, should take care while using supplementary material like Digital Content (if used, take care of the feelings of any class, community, gender, or any religious group).

In case of some subjects where NCERT/SCERT books are not available, students can download the CBSE Books that are uploaded on the official website. The Supplementary Material must follow the National Curriculum Framework – School Education (NCF-SE).
