All the students appearing for the upcoming National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Undergraduate 2025 exam, are informed that there is a new update for all. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has finally cleared all the doubts regarding the eligibility criteria of students from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for the NEET UG 2025 exam. This comes after concerns about differences between the NEET-UG 2025 information bulletin and NMC rules.

In response to an RTI filed on February 11, 2025, NMC explained that confusion arose due to how the bulletin was understood. The commission confirmed that students who completed their studies through NIOS, state open schools, or as private candidates can appear for NEET-UG. Their eligibility is based on the Graduate Medical Education Regulations (GMER) 2023. This clarification ensures that open school students are not excluded from pursuing medical education.

NIOS Students Eligibility for NEET UG 2025

As per the released notification, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has informed that students can take an extra subject through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) if they study it at an approved institution. Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened the official window to fill out the NEET Application Form 2025 on February 05, 2025 at its official website.

Interested applicants can visit the official website, neet.nta.nic.in, and submit their application forms by March 7, 2025. NEET UG is a national-level entrance exam for admission into MBBS, BDS, and other medical courses across India. The NMC’s update is a relief for NIOS students, ensuring they are still eligible to appear for the exam under the latest rules.
