JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria 2025
As per the released schedule, NTA will begin the JEE Main Registration 2025 in the month of September, for all the students who want to get admission into BTech/BE and other engineering undergraduate courses. JEE Mains Eligibility – Nationality
The candidates who want to appear in the JEE Mains Exam 2025 must be an Indian citizen. Foreign nationals, as well as NRIs (Non-Resident Indians), PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin), and OCIs (Overseas Citizens of India) are also eligible to apply for the JEE Main Exam 2025.
JEE Mains Eligibility – Age Criteria
There is no age limit for the candidates to appear in the JEE Mains Exam. The candidates who have passed the class 12/equivalent examination in 2023, 2024, or appearing in 2025 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE Main 2025 examination. - Candidates who have passed the Class 10+2/equivalent exam in 2023, and 2024, or those who are appearing for the same in 2025, are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2025.
- Candidates who passed the Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2024 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2025 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2025.
JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria- Aggregate Marks

Admission into NITs, IIITs and CFTIs
- Students should have secured at least 75% marks in the Class 12 exam or be in the top 20 percentile in the exam conducted by respective Boards. For SC/ST students, the qualifying marks should be 65% in the Class 12 exam.
JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria: Subjects
- B.E/B.Tech: Applicants must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Mathematics, and any one of the Chemistry, Biotechnology, or Technical Vocational Subjects.
- B.Arch: Applicants should have passed the qualifying exam with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
- B. Plan: Applicants must have passed the qualifying examination in Mathematics.
JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria- Qualifying Exams
- The final examination (10+2 system), is conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ISCE), New Delhi, etc.
- Intermediate or 2-year Pre-University exam conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
- The final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
- Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling has a minimum of five subjects.
- Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or in any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Vocational Examination.
- A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of a minimum of three years duration.
- General Certificate Education examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
- High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
- Candidates who completed the class 12 (or equivalent) exam outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the exam they have passed is equivalent to the class 12 exam.
- In case the class 12 exam is not a public exam, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) exam earlier.
JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria- State Code
‘State code of eligibility’ refers to the state from which the candidate has passed the Class 12 (or equivalent) qualifying examination, which qualifies them to participate in JEE Main 2025. The State code of eligibility does not take into account the place of residence or the candidate’s native place.
For example: In the case of a candidate appearing at a New Delhi institution, and residing in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, the candidate’s state code of eligibility will be Delhi, NOT Uttar Pradesh.

JEE Mains Eligibility Criteria For Droppers
- There will be no age limit for JEE Main 2025 eligibility criteria for droppers.
