The Common University Entrance Test is a national-level entrance exam conducted every year by the National Testing Agency as the single window portal to apply for admission into bachelor-level courses at more than 200+ top universities. During their preparation phase, multiple experts suggest studying concepts from NCERT books, but students often have questions about how much useful is NCERT for CUET UG?

There can’t be a direct answer to this question, as NCERT is considered the base for CUET UG Exam Preparation. However, the CUET exams are conducted in a manner that tests not only academic knowledge but also other areas such as general knowledge, reasoning, and calculation skills. To prepare for these aspects, students need to study from sources other than NCERT.

Importance of NCERT in CUET UG Preparation

The NCERT Books play a vital role in the CUET UG Preparation as the exam covers most of the syllabus covered in class 12. Therefore, students who prepare using the NCERT Books get to understand all the necessary concepts and get the answers to all their questions. However, the students are required to look for resources other than the NCERT as there are multiple important topics and sections that are not covered in it.

Need for Additional Materials for CUET UG Preparation

While preparing for the CUET UG Exam 2025, aspirants need to use additional materials as they provide:

  • Depth of Content: No doubt NCERT Books cover the concepts of all the important topics for the CUET UG Exam, but there are certain topics for which the students are required to dig deeper in the process to get answers for all the questions, and for this, they are required to study using additional study materials.
  • Practice Material: The NCERT Books provide an understanding of the CUET Syllabus 2025 but don’t tell about the CUET Exam Pattern. Also, students are required to solve CUET Previous Year Question Papers in the process of completing their preparation, which are not provided with NCERT Books.
  • General Exam Preparation: The General Aptitude Test (GAT) tests student’s mental ability, logical reasoning, quantitative reasoning, general knowledge, and current affairs, and to prepare for this exam, students need to look for resources other than NCERT.
