CBSE Junior Assistant Selection Process 2025

The selection for Junior Assistant posts will be based Candidates on the selection stage Tier-1 (MCQ) examination, followed by the Skill Test. Candidates have to score a minimum of 30% marks in the Tier 1 exam to qualify for the exam. Based on candidates' performance in the Tier-1 (MCQ) Examination, the candidates will be called for a Skill Test (qualifying in nature) in the ratio of 1:5.  

• Stage 1: Tier 1 - The CBSE Junior Assistant Tier 1 Multi-Choice Question (MCQ) examination is designed to check the candidate's knowledge of various subjects.
• Stage 2: Skill Test (Qualifying in nature) - Candidates are required to demonstrate a typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) in English or 30 words per minute (w.p.m.) in Hindi on a computer.

CBSE Junior Assistant Exam Pattern 2025

Candidates going to appear for the Junior Assistant exam should be aware of the exam pattern to know the type of questions, marking scheme, and other details. 

• Each correct answer will give 3 marks.
• 1 mark will be subtracted for each incorrect answer.
• Unanswered questions will not receive any marks.
• Only one correct answer per question.
• Selecting more than one response will be treated as a wrong answer, and 1 mark will be deducted.

Below we explained the CBSE Junior Assistant Syllabus 2025 for the Single Tier Examination which is an Objective Type (OMR Based) Examination where candidates have to answer multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The exam is divided into 5 parts, the total score for the Tier 1 exam is 300 marks. Candidates need to answer all sections within the given time frame.

Part 1: Current Affairs & General Awareness

• Arithmetic: Number systems, averages, ratios, percentages, profit and loss, etc.

• Statistics: Data collection, frequency distribution, representation (bar diagrams, pie charts), measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode)
   

Part 3: General Hindi & General English

• General Hindi: Hindi alphabet, punctuation, sentence structure, synonyms/antonyms, idioms, proverbs
• General English: Active/passive voice, parts of speech, sentence transformation, direct/indirect speech, punctuation, vocabulary, idioms, fill-in-the-blanks
• Comprehension: Reading comprehension in Hindi and English
• Communication Skills: Techniques for effective communication in both languages

Part 4: Basic Knowledge of Computer Operation

• Computer Basics: Organization, CPU, input/output devices, memory, ports, Windows Explorer
• Software: Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Internet & E-mails: Browsing, searching, downloading/uploading, managing email, e-banking
• Networking & Cyber Security: Networking devices, security threats (hacking, viruses), preventive measures

Part 5: Awareness about School Education, Examination Board, and its Administration, etc.

• School Education: Knowledge of the structure of school education (primary, secondary, higher secondary), curriculum, teaching methods, and educational policies, including reforms and the role of schools in student learning.
• Examination Boards: Awareness of boards like CBSE, ICSE, and state boards that conduct exams, their guidelines, and their role in certifying students and ensuring fair assessments.
• Examination Administration: Understanding how exams are managed, including schedules, paper setting, evaluation, results, and handling exam-related issues.
