The Union Public Service Commission has released 705 vacancies in two categories.
- Category 1 covers the Central Health Services, and there are 226 vacancies for medical officers in the sub-cadre.

UPSC CMS 2025 Application Fees
Candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and PWD are exempted from payment and other category candidates must pay Rs.200. Also candidates can pay by cash in SBI:
- Generate Pay slip during Part II registration and deposit at any SBI Branch.
- Pay by cash mode is available till 23:59 pm on 10th March 2025 (one day before the application closing date).
- After 10th March 2025 only online payment mode will be available till 06:00 pm on 11th March 2025.

UPSC CMS 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in applying for the UPSC CMS 2025 should check the eligibility criteria which include Educational and Age requirements. If candidates fails to meet these requirements they will be disqualified.
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must Pass both the written and practical exam of the final MBBS Examination
- Candidates who have not completed the compulsory rotating internship are eligible to apply, but they will only recruited after completing the Internship
- Candidates who have appeared for or yet to appear for the final MBBS exam can apply, but they provide proof of passing the exam within the given time.
Age Limit (As of 01/08/2025)
- Candidates must not cross the 32 years of age as of 1st August 2025.
- For Medical Officers in General Duty Medical Officers Sub-Cadre, the age limit is 35 years.
Physical and Medical Standards
The candidates must be physically and medically fit to meet the CMS Eligibility 2025.
UPSC CMS 2025 Selection Process
The selection process for UPSC Combined Medical Services includes the two-stage process:
- Written exam- 500 marks
- Interview- 100 marks
The Final Merit list will be based on the marks obtained from combined papers.
UPSC CMS Exam Pattern 2025
The written examination comprises two papers, each carrying 250 marks and for each paper, candidates will have to 2 hours to complete each paper.
Paper 1
Paper 1 tests the candidate’s knowledge in General medicine which has 96 questions and Pediatrics which has 24 questions. Both paper makes 250 marks and it should be completed in 120 minutes.
- 1/3 of the marks will be deducted.

Paper 2
In this paper, The questions are asked from Surgery, Preventive and Social Medicine, and Gynaecology & Obstetrics. Each section comprises 40 questions and must be completed in 2 hours.
- There is a negative marking of 1/3 of the marks.

Interview
Candidates who pass the written examination will be invited for the Interview Test conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The interview will be conducted for 100 marks which is designed to test the GK, Academic abilities, and intellectual curiosity of a candidate.
UPSC CMS Salary
