UGC NET 2025- Highlights

The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test 2025 (UGC NET 2025) or NTA UGC NET is a national-level teaching exam that is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for only Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor posts in Indian universities and colleges. The UGC NET exam is held twice a year for a total of 85 subjects. The UGC NET June Exam 2025 is tentatively scheduled for 21st to 30th June 2025, and only candidates who register will be eligible to appear for the exam.

UGC NET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Those candidates who want to apply for the UGC NET 2025 exam must ensure that they fulfil the UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2025. The candidate’s eligibility for UGC NET will be determined in terms of educational qualification, number of attempts, and so on.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have completed a Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (50% for reserved categories)
  • The candidates who are pursuing Four Year/8 eight-semester Bachelor’s Degree programme and are in their last semester/year may also apply for the UGC-NET.
  • The candidates with a Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree Programme  are allowed to appear in a subject in which they want to pursue a Ph.D., irrespective of the discipline in which they have obtained the four-year bachelor’s degree

Age Limit

  • JRF – Maximum 30 years (relaxations applicable for reserved categories)
  • Assistant Professor – No upper age limit

UGC NET Application Form 2025

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started accepting the UGC NET Application Form 2025 for the UGC NET June Session Exam from 16th April 2025 onwards. The candidates who fulfil the UGC NET eligibility criteria must fill out the UGC NET application till 7th May 2025 form through the NTA website or the direct link shared here.

UGC NET Syllabus 2025

UGC NET Certificate 2025

Candidates who qualify the UGC NET exam will be issued with the UGC NET Certificate 2025, which serves as proof to determine the candidate’s eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship posts for universities and colleges in India. This certificate has a lifetime validity for those who appeared for the Assistant Professor exam and for the Junior Research Fellowship; the validity is for 4 years from the issuing date.
