UGC NET Exam 2024 Cancelled Due to Exam Integrity, What’s Next?

The announcement of the UGC NET Exam 2024 Cancellation came as a shock to many. The National Testing Agency (NTA) organised the exam and now released an official statement indicating that due to the compromise in the exam integrity, the NET Exam conducted on 18th June 2024 is cancelled. While the statement was brief, it highlighted key factors contributing to the cancellation. The entire matter has been referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a comprehensive investigation. The UGC NET 2024 Exam will be conducted again for which any update will be notified through the official website https://ugcnet.ntaonline.in/.

UGC NET Exam 2024 Cancelled

University Grant Commission National Eligibility Test- June 2024 (UGC NET 2024) was conducted in OMR mode (i.e. Pen and Paper mode) on 18th June 2024. On the following day, the exam is announced to be cancelled. A total of 9,08,580 candidates appeared for the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test or UGC NET June 2024 examination. Out of the total, 4,73,484 took the examination in the first shift while 4,35,096 appeared in the second shift. Now the exam will be conducted again for more than 9 lakh candidates and fresh admit cards will be released with all details.

Ministry of Education has decided that the UGC-NET June 2024 Examination be cancelled based on inputs from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, prima-facie indicating that the integrity of the examination may have been compromised.

UGC NET 2024 New Exam Date

This year, a total of 11,21,225 candidates had registered for the UGC NET examination, of the total candidates registered for the examination, 6,35,587 were female, 4,85,579 were male and 59 were third-gender candidates. Out of 11 lakh candidates, only 9,08,580 candidates (81%) have appeared in the exam, however, the cancellation has brought a benefit for the candidates who have missed the exam. Now they can appear for the exam which is to be held again. The new exam date for UGC NET June 2024 will be announced shortly.
