The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the registration process for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) 2025 on the official website www.ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Candidates who are interested in applying for the UGC NET exam must ensure to submit their application form till 7th May 2025 (11:59 pm) to avoid last-minute technical glitches. According to the official schedule, UGC NET 2025 is tentatively scheduled to be held between 21st June and 30th June 2025.
UGC NET Application Form 2025
The UGC-NET is the examination is a national-level exam held twice a year, which determines the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ as well as ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian Universities and Colleges. Candidates must ensure they meet the specific eligibility criteria before applying for the UGC NET exam 2025. Eligible candidates have to apply for the UGC NET June exam and get it submitted to the concerned authority within the dates for registration from 16th April to 7th May 2025 (11:59 pm).

UGC NET Application Form 2025
The UGC NET Application Form 2025 portal link has been activated on the official website www.ugcnet.nta.nic.in. This is a great opportunity to become a professor in a well-reputed college or university. The direct link to apply online for the UGC NET Exam 2025 is also shared here, which will remain active till 7th May 2025 (11:59 pm). Application forms will be accepted in online mode only, and any application form submitted through other means will not be accepted.
Steps to Apply for the UGC NET Exam
Candidates who are eligible and interested in applying for the UGC NET Exam must follow these steps to complete the application
Step 1 – Registration Form
- Visit the official website of UGC NET at www.ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
- On the homepage, click on the link that reads “UGC NET June 2025- Click Here to Register/ Login.
- For Already Registered Candidates- Enter your application number and password and then enter your basic details like name, parents’ name, date of birth, email id, mobile number etc.
- For New Registration- Click on “New Candidates Register Now” and enter personal details i.e. candidate’s name, date of birth, mobile number and email id.
- A unique application number and password will be generated and sent to candidates’ registered email ID and mobile number.
Step 2 – Application Form
- Candidates log in with the system-generated Application Number and pre-created Password to complete the application form.
- Now fill in your Educational Details, the most recent qualification you hold, your percentage etc.
- After that, you are required to provide your communication address, phone number, and email ID.
- Now choose the Exam Centre and the medium of the exam in which you want to attempt the paper.
- Enter your Aadhar card number, choose your gender, and category and finally select the status of Employment and the status of the Qualifying Exam.
- Upload your photo and signature. Both images must be in jpg/jpeg format and must have a white background.
Step 3 – Pay Examination Fee
- You will be directed to the payment page.
- The payment can be made for the UGC NET 2025 Exam through online or offline mode.
- Click on the “SUBMIT” button. Download the confirmation page for future reference.
Eligibility Criteria for UGC NET 2025 June Exam
The educational and other qualifications for the UGC NET 2025 June Session are essential for candidates to make sure that they meet the eligibility criteria before applying. Candidates must meet these standards; if they don’t, they will be disqualified.
Educational and Other Qualifications
- General or EWS candidates must have at least 55% marks in their Master’s degree from a recognized university
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PwD/Third gender candidates need at least 50% marks in their Master’s degree.
- Those who are in the final year of their Master’s degree or waiting for results can also apply, but they must complete the degree with required marks within 2 years of the result date.
- Candidates qualifying for Ph.D. admission only must complete their Master’s within 1 year.
- Ph.D. holders who completed their Master’s before 19 Sept 1991 get a 5% relaxation in marks.
- Candidates with a 4-year Bachelor’s degree must have at least 75% marks to apply for JRF/Ph.D. admission (but not for Assistant Professor).
- Final-year students of 4-year degrees can also apply provisionally.
- Candidates who qualify JRF can do research or apply for Assistant Professor roles.
Age Limit (as of 01.06.2025)
JRF: Maximum age 30 years
- +5 years relaxation for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, women, and armed forces.
- +3 years for LLM holders.
- Research experience may also give relaxation (max 5 years).
No age limit for:
- Assistant Professor
- Ph.D. Admission
Important Instructions for Photograph and Signature
- The scanned images of the latest photographs and signature should be in jpg/jpeg format.
- The size of the photograph and signature must be of the following dimensions.
