The total In-hand Salary after adding all allowances, benefits and perks can reach up to Rs. 31,000 per month in urban areas, whereas in rural areas it will be Rs. 29,000 per month. Candidates who have completed their graduation in any discipline can get the opportunity to become ASIs by passing the internal departmental examination. Without giving a departmental exam, candidates have to serve 5 years as a Police constable to get promoted as a Head constable. Candidates have to complete 12 years of service to get promoted to the A.S.I. and an additional 15 years to get promoted to the post of Sub-Inspector.
