CPCB Eligibility Criteria

  • Scientist ‘B’-Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in: Environmental, Civil, Instrumentation, Chemical, Mechanical, AI, Computer Science, IT, OR Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Microbiology. Preferential: Master’s in Engineering/Technology or NET qualified/Ph.D.
  • Assistant Law Officer– Bachelor’s degree in Law and 5 years’ experience in one of the following:
  1. State Judicial Service
  2. Legal Department of a State
  3. Central Govt. legal affairs
  4. Practicing advocate
  • Senior Technical Supervisor- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation or Electronics Engineering and 3 years’ experience in the related field
  • Senior Scientific Assistant- Master’s degree in Science and 2 years’ experience in pollution control or related field
  • Technical Supervisor– Degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Electrical Engineering and 3 years’ experience in the relevant field
  • Assistant- Bachelor’s Degree and must have a typing speed:
  1. English: 35 wpm (10500 KDPH)
  2. Hindi: 30 wpm (9000 KDPH)
  • Accounts Assistant- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and 3 years’ experience in accounts, audit, or related work
  • Junior Translator– Master’s degree in Hindi with English as a subject at the degree level OR Master’s degree in English with Hindi as a subject at degree level OR Master’s in any subject with either Hindi or English medium and the other language as a subject at degree level
  • Senior Draughtsman- Degree in Civil Engineering and 3 years’ experience in a similar field
  • Junior Technician- Diploma in Electrical Engineering and 1 year of experience in servicing lab machines
  • Senior Laboratory Assistant- Passed 12th in Science with 3 years’ relevant experience
  • Upper Division Clerk (UDC)- Graduation from a recognized university
  1. Typing speed: 35 wpm (English) or 30 wpm (Hindi) on a computer
  • Data Entry Operator Grade-II- 12th pass
  1. Data entry speed: 8000 key depressions/hour
  • Stenographer Grade-II- 12th pass with Skill test of:

Selection Process

Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has set he selection process, which consists of four stages

  1. Written Exam: Candidates have to go through the written examination and minimum qualifying marks are: UR – 35%, OBC/EWS – 30%, SC/ST/PwBD/ESM – 25%.
  2. Skill Test: Skill tests are required for posts like Assistant, UDC, LDC, DEO, and Stenographer (typing/data entry test).
  3. Interview: Only for Group A posts like Scientist ‘B’ (Written: 85%, Interview: 15%).
  4. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must show original certificates for age, educational qualification, category (if applicable), etc.
