BPSC Assistant Professor Eligibility 2025
The eligibility for the BPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2025 includes the educational qualifications and age requirements and most importantly the experience. Candidates must meet these standards; if they fail, they will be disqualified at any stage of the recruitment process.
Educational Qualification
- Candidates with an MD/MS degree and at least 3 years of teaching experience as a Senior Resident/Registrar/Tutor in the relevant subject from a recognized medical college are eligible for the Assistant Professor post.
- The teaching experience must be recognized by Bihar Health Services and should be obtained after completing a postgraduate degree in a specialty subject.
- Candidates with 3 years of teaching and research experience as a Senior Resident/Registrar/Tutor in a Medical College or Institute recognized by the Medical Council of India are also eligible.
- For Advertisement No. 07/2025, Assistant Professor in Dentistry: Candidates with an MDS degree in the relevant subject and 3 years of experience as a Senior Resident/Registrar/Tutor in a recognized dental college are eligible.

Candidates can follow these simple steps to apply for the BPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2025
- Visit the official website of BPSC, www.bpsc.bihar.gov.in, and complete the One Time Registration (OTR).
- Click the “New User Registration” button to start.
- A valid email ID and mobile number are required for OTR, and use the OTR password to apply for BPSC exams..
- Log in to the application dashboard using your mobile number/email and password.
- After OTR, the Digilocker portal will open. If you have a Digilocker account, sign in and give consent to OAMS. If not, create one and then give consent to OAMS, and if documents are uploaded on Digilocker, link them directly to OAMS.
- If you do not use Digilocker, click the back button to access the Online Application Portal and log in.
- After Login, fill in all the required details, like personal information, qualifications, experience etc.
- Upload the picture and signature, and pay the application fees.
- Review, download, the save the application for future use.
BPSC Assistant Professor Selection Process 2025
The selection process for BPSC Assistant Professor consists of four stages, which are-

The explanation for the selection process is as follows
Evaluation for Educational Qualifications:
- Marks will be assigned based on the percentage obtained in MBBS/BDS university exams.
Marks Allocation Based on Percentage:
- 70% and above: 5 marks
- 65% to 69.99%: 4 marks
- 60% to 64.99%: 3 marks
- 50% to 59.99%: 2 marks
- Below 50%: 1 mark
Note on Failure in Exams:
- If a candidate failed in one or more MBBS/BDS exams, the total marks will be calculated using the average of the failed and passed marks in the respective subjects.
Foreign Degree Holders:
- For candidates with a foreign degree, the marks will be calculated by multiplying their FMGE score percentage by 0.6.
Speciality Subject Evaluation:
Marks are assigned based on the percentage obtained in the applied specialty subject:
- 70% and above: 5 marks
- 65% to 69.99%: 4 marks
- 60% to 64.99%: 3 marks
- 50% to 59.99%: 2 marks
- Below 50%: 1 mark
Failure in Specialty Subject:
- In case of failure in the specialty subject, the average of failed and passed marks will be considered for evaluation.
MD/MS/MDs or Equivalent Specialty Qualification– 10 marks
Ph.D., DM, MCH, and DNB (Super Speciality) in the Same Specialty– 10 marks
Work Experience in Government Sector- 2 marks per full year (Maximum 10 marks)
Interview- 06 marks
Work Experience in Medical Education
- Preference will be given for work experience in government or non-private medical institutions in Bihar.
- The work experience certificate must be issued by the competent authority (Principal/Director/Civil Surgeon/Director) and will only be valid with the appointment letter and charge-taking report.
- A list of eligible institutions is available on the official BPSC website.
- No Marks for MRCP, FRCS, etc. after 11.11.1978
Penalty for Failures in MBBS/BDS Exams
- 1 mark will be deducted for each failure in the exams.
- Candidates who failed more than 3 times in these exams will not be eligible.
Ph.D. in Medical Specialty
- A Ph.D. in the same medical specialty after completing MD/MS/PG Diploma/M.Sc in Medical Subjects will be eligible for marks.
Additional Marks for Research Publications
- Marks will be awarded for publications as the first author in recognized journals:
- 2 marks per publication in an all-India or foreign medical journal (with a maximum of 10 marks).
- Research publications considered include original papers, meta-analysis, systematic reviews, and case series published in indexed journals (e.g., Medline, PubMed Central, Scopus).
- Co-authors will also be awarded marks, and marks will be given for publications marked “Accepted for Publication”.
Minimum Marks Required for Assistant Professor Appointment
- Candidates need at least 18 marks to be eligible for the Assistant Professor position.
